Bolivia Apolo Coffee Beans

In the Apolo region of northern Bolivia, an indigenous community of 35 families were looking for a solution to the coca plant leeching the nutrients from their soil. They began working with Wildlife Conservation Society and Cafe Kreyol to create a model of ecological preservation and sustainable income. This community is made up of 90% female farmers, who transitioned from growing coca to growing coffee. The land had harder clay soil from growing so much coca, yet in only 5 years, they have seen significant and ongoing soil regeneration.
